Keelings UK Partner with FareShare to Redistribute Surplus Fruit and Vegetables

FareShare

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors. Together with their supplier partners, FareShare transports surplus product from the food industry and donate it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups across the UK. School breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes are examples of charities FareShare supplies with surplus food. Every week FareShare provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.

Keelings UK work closely with FareShare to support the organisation in their ‘fighting hunger, tackling food waste’ mission. Keelings and FareShare are now working directly together, this has reduced the time it takes for the donated fresh produce to be collected and redistributed to the charities by shortening supply chains. Since March 2020, Keelings have donated approximately 542,000 portions of fresh produce across the UK, and our employees have volunteered for a total of 64 hours at our local FareShare site in Milton Keynes.

Keelings looks forward to continuing our partnership with FareShare into the future. Helping children and families in need to receive a healthy meal with our nutritious fresh produce, while reducing food waste, very much aligns with our own ethos and the Keelings Better Food Better World purpose.
