We are delighted to have won GOLD at the Irish Quality Food Awards for the 2nd year running with our Keelings Kol’or Pineapple. The Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards recognise and celebrate the best in retail, wholesale and foodservice food and drink products available in Ireland.
At Keelings, we take great pride in growing our sweet and juicy pineapples on our 1018-hectare Level A Rainforest Alliance certified farm in Costa Rica. On our farm, we produce over 16 million pineapples a year and have exceptional sustainable agricultural practices. For example, we incorporate fruit and plant waste into the soil to increase the organic material and enhance soil structure.
Keelings also picked up bronze medals for our Keelings Irish Strawberries and our Keelings Irish Raspberries. The Keeling family first tilled the soil on our farm at St. Margarets, Co. Dublin, Ireland in 1926. We now grow strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries and apples in glasshouses and polytunnels on our 450-acre farm. We now grow approximately 200 million strawberries each year.
